Quick Answer

Aeroframe AF1000: Quick Answers

QWhat is the Aeroframe AF1000?

A 500×1000×84 mm die-cast aluminum rental LED cabinet weighing 14.5 kg and covering 0.5 m² per panel — half the cabinets for the same wall.

QWhat pixel pitches does the AF1000 come in?

Indoor P2.976–P4.81 (IP31) and outdoor P2.604–P5.95 rated IP65 front and rear.

QIs it really waterproof enough for outdoor festivals?

The outdoor AF1000 is IP65 front and rear — dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction.

QCan the same cabinet build both flat and curved walls?

Yes. The half-arc lock adjusts in five steps from -5° to +5°, so the same cabinet builds flat backdrops and gentle curves.

QHow many cabinets does a large wall need?

Each cabinet covers 0.5 m², so a 100 m² wall takes about 200 cabinets. Fewer panels also means roughly half as many inter-cabinet lock joints and jumper cables as a 500×500 mm build.

QCan AF1000 and AF500 cabinets be mixed in one wall?

Yes — they interlock vertically, so 500×1000 mm and 500×500 mm cabinets can share one screen. Confirm the mix with our engineers before ordering.

Introduction

Meet the Aeroframe AF1000 Rental LED Display

The Aeroframe AF1000 rental LED display is built for the jobs where area, not pitch, decides the bid. A big festival or broadcast stage wants fewer cabinets, fewer locks and fewer cables — and outdoors it wants a screen that will not blink at rain.

At 500×1000 mm, each AF1000 cabinet covers 0.5 m², so a 12×6 m wall needs half the panels of a 500×500 mm design. The outdoor version is IP65 front and rear and delivers 4500–5000 nits for direct-sun stages.

It is the large-format half of the Aeroframe family — pair it with the 500×500mm Aeroframe AF500 to add fine-pitch panels where a wall meets a close-viewing zone. For the full 500×1000mm rental category, see our 500x1000mm rental LED display guide.

Why Aeroframe

Why Choose the Aeroframe AF1000 for Large-Format & Outdoor Rental?

Large stages and outdoor festivals used to force a choice between heavy iron cabinets and fragile indoor panels. The AF1000 removes the trade-off: a die-cast aluminum enclosure at 14.5 kg that is built to be rained on, not just wheeled around a ballroom.

Covering 0.5 m² per panel, the AF1000 halves the panel count for the same wall, and fewer panels mean roughly half as many inter-cabinet lock joints and jumper cables — which is faster load-in, fewer failure points and a smaller truck. The IP65 front-and-rear rating means a sudden shower does not end the show.

Paired with the half-arc lock and fast locks, the AF1000 lets a small outdoor crew strike a large wall in a shift.

Fast Lock: Fewer Lock Points per Square Metre

A high-performance travel lock with better load-bearing capacity and flatness. Because each 500×1000 mm panel covers 0.5 m², the same wall takes half the panels a 500×500 mm build needs, and therefore roughly half as many inter-cabinet lock joints. The lock clicks panels together without tools.

Installation

Installing the Aeroframe AF1000 Rental LED Display: Rigging, Power & Signal

The AF1000 supports lifting, seat mounting, cylindrical, curved and right-angle configurations. Because each cabinet is 0.5 m², plan the wall in fewer, larger rows and lock panels top-down. Whether you are pricing a single Aeroframe AF1000 wall for one event or a touring fleet, that row-and-column plan is what sets the cabinet count, the freight weight and the crew hours.

  1. Rigging — hang the truss or ground-support frame, then lift and lock each 14.5 kg cabinet; the half-arc lock sets straight or any of the five arc angles before tightening.
  2. Power — the outdoor AF1000 draws a maximum of 800 W/m² and averages 200–300 W/m². Breaker and circuit sizing depends on the pitch, the chain length and the local electrical code; our engineers confirm the final distribution plan with you.
  3. Signal — the receiving-card model and count are confirmed against your pitch, scan mode and cabinet layout before quotation; cabinets daisy-chain and the last panel terminates. Mixing AF1000 and AF500 in one wall follows the same vertical interlock; confirm the power and signal layout of the mixed array with our engineers before ordering.

Compatibility

Aeroframe AF1000 Compatibility & Control

Control platform is specified per project: the Aeroframe AF1000 is configured on an industry-standard control system, so it works with the processor and sending-card stock you already run instead of requiring a proprietary system. What is confirmed and what still needs checking against your configuration is listed below.

Category Compatible Notes
Cabinet interlock Aeroframe AF1000 ↔ AF500 (vertical) Interlocks vertically; mix sizes in one wall (confirm your mix with our engineers).
Module 250×250 mm Shared across the Aeroframe pitch range.
Control system Industry-standard control system — brand and model confirmed per project We confirm the exact receiving card, sending card and firmware revision against your pixel count and scan mode before quotation.
Cabinet sealing Indoor IP31 / outdoor IP65 (front & rear) IP65 is defined by IEC 60529 as dust-tight and protected against water jets. Indoor cabinets are IP31 and are not for wet use.
Power input AC90-264V, 47-63Hz Wide-range input; size distribution per pitch.

Control-system compatibility for the AF1000 depends on pixel count, scan mode and firmware revision. Because each cabinet covers 0.5 m², a single 500×1000 mm panel carries more pixels than a 500×500 mm one at the same pitch, so we confirm the card and processor against your actual array before quotation.

Buying Guidance

When You Should NOT Choose the Aeroframe AF1000

Being honest about where the AF1000 is not the best fit helps you buy the right cabinet the first time:

  • Fine-pitch or close-viewing indoor work — the AF1000 indoor range starts at P2.976. If you need P1.25–P2.5 for XR or close-viewing, the Aeroframe AF500 is the finer-pitch cabinet.
  • Cramped load-ins and small crews — each 500×1000 mm panel weighs 14.5 kg against 8 kg for the 500×500 mm cabinet. Where access is narrow or the crew is small, the lighter panel is easier to handle.
  • Small indoor walls — a 0.5 m² panel is coarser granularity for small, oddly-shaped indoor walls; see our 500x1000mm rental LED display guide for alternatives.
  • Arcs beyond ±5° per lock — the half-arc lock steps through -5° to +5°. For tighter continuous-radius curves, confirm the exact radius with our engineers first.

Aeroframe AF1000 Troubleshooting

No signal on the whole wall

Check the sending card output and the first cabinet’s signal in. Because each 500×1000 mm cabinet covers 0.5 m², one unseated receiving card blanks twice the screen area a 500×500 mm cabinet would, so confirm the chain terminates correctly at the last panel.

One cabinet is dark

Swap the incoming signal and power from a working neighbour. If the cabinet runs on a known-good feed, the receiving card or power box needs service; both are field-replaceable from the front or the rear without dismantling the wall.

Module replacement on site

Release the module from the front or the rear, unclip the ribbon and power, and fit the spare. A 500×1000 mm cabinet holds eight 250×250 mm modules in a two-by-four layout, so identify the correct position before pulling one — recalibrate the module after replacement.

Water ingress after heavy rain

The outdoor AF1000 is IP65 front and rear, but check gaskets and module seals after any impact or drop. If moisture enters a module, dry it fully before re-powering and replace any damaged seal before the next load-in — gaskets are the part that ages fastest on an outdoor cabinet.

Flicker or colour wash after a wet load-in

Usually a loose module ribbon or a scan-file mismatch for the pitch in use. On an outdoor wall, check the ribbon and the module seal first if the fault appeared after a wet load-in; reseat the connectors and re-send the correct scan file from the controller software.

One row of modules dimmer than the rest

A 500×1000 mm cabinet carries its modules two across and four down, so a dim row usually points at one power feed rather than the whole cabinet. Check the connector feeding that row, re-terminate, and confirm the per-cabinet breaker is within the rated load for the pitch.

Example Scenario

How a Rental House Uses the Aeroframe AF1000

Illustrative scenario (not a named client project): a rental company builds a 12 m × 6 m outdoor festival backdrop at P3.91. The wall is 72 m²; at 0.5 m² per cabinet that is 144 AF1000 cabinets — a 500×500 mm build of the same wall would need 288 panels. Two crews rig the wall in a day; when an afternoon storm passes, the IP65 cabinets keep running without a tarp. A few spare modules and gasket seals in the truck cover any on-site swap.

This is how the AF1000’s large format and IP65 rating translate into fewer panels, faster rigging and shows that keep running in weather — the margin a rental company keeps.

Pricing

How Aeroframe AF1000 Pricing Works

We do not publish a single price because the AF1000 is configured per project. The final cost depends on pixel pitch, total area, indoor vs outdoor, the receiving-card and controller combination, installation hardware, freight and spare-parts ratio. The finer the pitch, the higher the LED density and the cost per square metre. An Aeroframe AF1000 quotation is built line by line — cabinets, control system, rigging hardware, spares and freight are itemised separately so you can compare us against another supplier on the same basis.

Send your screen size, viewing distance and pitch requirement through the form above, and we’ll return a line-item quotation with lead time rather than a ballpark number.

Warranty and spares: warranty terms are confirmed with your quotation. As a rule of thumb for outdoor rental fleets, budget roughly 2–3% of cabinet count in spare modules plus spare receiving cards, power boxes and door gaskets — gaskets are the part that ages fastest on an IP65 cabinet.

FAQ

Aeroframe AF1000 FAQs

Q1 What pixel pitches are available in the Aeroframe AF1000?

Indoor: P2.976, P3.91 and P4.81. Outdoor: P2.604, P2.976, P3.91, P4.81 and P5.95 at IP65. The AF1000 is a large-format cabinet, so its indoor range starts at P2.976 rather than the finer AF500 pitches. Every pitch uses the same 250×250 mm module and the same 2×4-per-cabinet layout, so a pitch change swaps modules, not the cabinet or the rigging.

Q2 How much does the AF1000 cabinet weigh?

Each 500×1000 mm cabinet weighs 14.5 kg. At 0.5 m² per panel that is light for its size, and a small crew can rig it quickly. Because one cabinet covers 0.5 m², a 10 m² wall needs only 20 cabinets — half the pieces a 500×500 mm build would use, so there are fewer locks to close and fewer lifting operations.

Q3 Is the outdoor AF1000 really waterproof?

The outdoor version is IP65 front and rear — dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction — suitable for wet-weather festival and event use. IEC 60529 defines the rating. Check gaskets and module seals after any impact, and confirm the mounting and drainage plan with our engineers if the screen faces driving rain.

Q4 How many AF1000 cabinets do I need for a 12×6 m wall?

A 12×6 m wall is 72 m²; at 0.5 m² per cabinet you need 144 cabinets plus spares — half the panels a 500×500 mm build would use. That is a 24 × 6 array at 500×1000 mm. Send your exact size and pitch and we’ll compute the array, the freight weight at 14.5 kg each and the spare ratio.

Q5 Can the AF1000 make curved screens?

Yes. The half-arc lock supports straight and arc configurations at -5°, -2.5°, 0°, +2.5° and +5° per lock, covering flat backdrops and gentle curves from the same cabinet. The angle is set before tightening, so one cabinet serves both a flat wall and a curved stage front. For radii tighter than the lock steps allow, confirm the exact radius with our engineers.

Q6 Is the AF1000 front or rear serviceable?

Both. Front and rear maintenance is supported with an integrated power-supply, receiving-card and rear-cover design for fast module swaps in different installation situations. Front access matters when the wall sits tight against a set; rear access is faster when you can walk behind it. Both are field-replaceable, so a cabinet does not have to come off the truss.

Q7 Can I mix AF1000 and AF500 cabinets in one screen?

Yes. The 500×1000 mm cabinet interlocks vertically with the 500×500 mm cabinet, so you can mix sizes in one wall — for example, fine-pitch AF500 in a close-viewing zone and AF1000 across the wider span. Both use the same half-arc lock angles, so a mixed wall curves consistently. Confirm your intended mix with our engineers before the rigging plan is fixed.

Q8 What refresh rate and contrast does the AF1000 deliver?

3840–7680 Hz refresh rate and a 15000:1 contrast ratio, with 12–16 bit grayscale, for camera-accurate, flicker-free images in broadcast and live event work. High refresh matters when cameras are in the shot: lower rates produce banding and rolling bars on video. The 160°/160° viewing angle keeps brightness even for seats far off centre.

Q9 What is the lead time and MOQ for the AF1000?

Production lead time and minimum order are confirmed with your quotation rather than quoted as a fixed figure, because the cabinet count, the pitch mix, any certification pack you need and the shipping method all move the schedule. Tell us your project size and destination and we will return the schedule that applies to your order.

Q10 What certifications does the AF1000 have?

CCC, CE, RoHS, FCC, CB, TUV and IEC certificates are available with your order. Tell us your destination region and we’ll send the certificate pack that applies to your project — CE for the EU, FCC for the US, and CB or TUV reports to support local approvals in other markets. RoHS covers restricted substances.
